Program information

The Bachelor Program is an initial basic training program in fundamental disciplinary areas of social sciences. It provides a repertoire of necessary knowledge, in order to train a critical citizen with a cultural framework that allows him to face an increasingly complex world, and vocationally guides the student to continue studies, leading to an undergraduate and / or professional degree.

 

Program Information

An Occupational Therapist is a health professional with comprehensive scientific and humanistic knowledge. He will work from a holistic perspective and with the support of technology and the occupational sciences. His skills allow him –at all stages of human development and in the areas he is responsible for – to evaluate, diagnose and develop the planning of prevention, recovery and rehabilitation programs for people who have suffered a deficit in their physical, mental or social integrity, taking the occupation as a central point of intervention in the clinical, geriatric, educational and community context.

He has the skills to work in a team, shows leadership, and is capable of critical and reflexive thinking, continuous learning, management and research. All this allows him to generate new knowledge in his field, contributing with his actions to the improvement of people´s health, occupational well-being and quality of life.

Occupational field

With a wide occupational field, an Occupational Therapist is able to work in hospitals and private orpublic clinics, providing direct clinical care to the patients throughout their entire life cycle; public or private health organizations (senior citizens, mental health, home care, observation and diagnostic centers, nursing homes, detention facilities, etc.); free choice systems (senior citizens, home care, nursing homes, etc.); the administration of health services and public clinics; community work (public clinics, NGOs, community organizations, etc.); occupational health (business institutions of different categories); and the field of education, working in the public, subsidized and private school system in projects of school integration and special education.

A Pharmaceutical Chemist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is a health professional with knowledge in chemical, biological and pharmaceutical sciences and has a clinical training that enables him to perform analytical techniques and interpret their results; actively participate as part of the health team for the population´s health and well-being prevention, through timely pharmaceutical care; apply his knowledge in the dispensation, supply and correct use of medicines, as well as in the processes of design, production and evaluation of pharmaceutical products; in addition to participating in drug and public health policies.

Occupational field

Pharmaceutical food-science; environmental, clinical and toxicological laboratory; pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry; pharmacy assistance; private pharmacy; pharmaceutical regulation and control; further training (postgraduate studies); or in free exercise of the profession.

A Medical Technologist is a professional with solid biological and technological knowledge, trained to plan and perform assembly techniques; implement biosecurity and quality control standards; perform, analyze and evaluate laboratory or imaging tests according to the mention of the clinical diagnosis and the health team; and to carry out preventive, promotive and recovery actions for the health of individuals and the community.

Program information

A Midwife is a professional in the field of health. She has a solid scientific, humanistic, technological, ethical and moral training, in order to work as a member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary health teams in the areas of obstetrics, gynecology, sexual health, neonatology and public health. She is responsible for the promotion and protection of health, as well as research and derivation of the pathology that affects the sexual and reproductive health of women, their partners, families and community in different stages of the life cycle, in the different levels of health care, with focus on gender. She has a critical and reflexive attitude of continuous learning, as well as skills of leadership, communication, management and integration. She is also able to generate new knowledge in her field andto contribute with her actions to the improvement of the community´s health and quality of life.

Occupational field

State health institutions, which depend on the network of health services or local health departments, such as hospitals at all levels of complexity, urban doctor´s offices (rural or similar) and in private institutions, such as public and private clinics, and military hospitals.

In addition, they can work in labor centers with high presence of women and in specific women related institutions. Also in education, participating in the promotion of health at the pre-school, basic education, secondary and higher education level; or contributing to the training of professionals in the field, at universities and institutes of technical and superior technical training; in research, participating in multi-professional and interdisciplinary teams, for example those, which arise from social needs, requested by the community. The graduate will be able to adjust the work of organization and management of public and private health services to demographic and epidemiological profile changes, scientific technological advances and social changes.
