Located in the Region of the Araucanía, Chile, the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) is a state,public institution of higher learning, considered among the best universities in the country based on its remarkable indicators of quality and excellence.

It became an independent institution on March 10, 1981, after the merger of the Temuco campuses of the University of Chile and the State Technical University.The Universidad de La Frontera is a learning community dedicated to the creation of human capital in undergraduate and graduate studies, in the areas of continuing education development, scientific and technological research, the promotion and creation of the arts and cultural development, and the education of citizens able to confront the challenges of their time.

The University offers 47 undergraduate programs, 11 doctoral programs, 29 Master’s programs, and 40 medical specialization programs in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery, computer science and medical physics.
It has over 10,000 undergraduate students, spread across six Faculties, and more than 600 graduate students.

The university cultivates knowledge, leadership, entrepreneurship and a forward-looking vision on its Campus Andrés Bello and the Medical Campus in Temuco, as well as in other cities of the La Araucanía Region, at its Angol Campus and the Pucón Campus, which offers three technical degree programs. “

The Universidad de La Frontera is a public, state, non-religious, pluralistic, inclusive and autonomous university in the La Araucanía region in the south of Chile that protects and promotes the value of cultural heritage and human and sustainable development.

Its mission is to cultivate and transfer knowledge in various fields and cultural domains. It recognizes, promotes and integrates the worldview of its indigenous peoples, especially regarding the intercultural relationship with the Mapuche people, promoting respect and equitable development.

UFRO is committed to excellence and quality and to the comprehensive training of professionals, who are capable of critical and reflective thinking; who promote a rational dialogue and tolerance, contributing to a country inspired by ethical, democratic, civic and social values; who contribute to a critical and transforming social consciousness; and who are ethically committed to the needs of the region, the country and the international community, for the common good.
