The Rector of the Universidad de La Frontera, Dr. Juan Manuel Fierro, together with authorities from the Faculty of Medicine and the Office of International Affairs, welcomed Dr. Allison P. Squires, a nurse and researcher from New York University (NYU), with the purpose of strengthening collaboration between both institutions through the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
As part of the First Conference on Nursing Research and Specialties, the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) and New York University (NYU) formalized an international cooperation agreement aimed at promoting research, academic exchange, and advanced training in the field of Nursing.
The document, signed during the visit of the distinguished NYU researcher Dr. Allison P. Squires, represents a new step in UFRO’s global projection and in the consolidation of scientific networks between Chile and the United States. Its objective is to foster and promote collaboration between both institutions through joint teaching, research, and exchange activities.
Through this agreement, the two universities will explore the development of initiatives such as faculty and graduate student exchanges for research, conferences, and discussions; participation in academic seminars and meetings; the exchange of materials, publications, and other information; as well as short-term academic programs and research-strengthening activities.
Regarding this milestone, Dr. Allison P. Squires stated: “I believe this agreement will create strong bilateral relationships between our universities, supporting both research and education. We are delighted to establish these new connections that will advance nursing science.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Greys González, researcher at UFRO’s Department of Nursing and the university’s coordinator for the agreement, highlighted its significance: “Establishing partnerships with internationally prestigious universities such as New York University is essential to strengthening the scientific and research development of Nursing at the Universidad de La Frontera. We are confident that this initiative will make a significant contribution to our disciplinary work and foster valuable academic collaborations.”
The signing of the memorandum took place within the framework of the First Conference on Nursing Research and Specialties, which brought together national and international experts to share lectures, clinical experiences, and research results presented through posters and oral presentations.
