Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) has reinforced its position among the higher education institutions with the strongest international recognition after being included in the 2026 edition of the ranking compiled by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), one of the world’s most comprehensive and widely recognised university rankings.
‘The position we have achieved in the CWUR ranking reflects our university community’s enduring commitment to excellence. Advancing in Latin America and the Caribbean while maintaining our status as the country’s seventh-ranked university confirms the strength of our institutional project, our contribution to the development of La Araucanía, and our role in generating knowledge with international recognition’, said the Rector of Universidad de La Frontera, Dr Juan Manuel Fierro Bustos.
In this edition, UFRO reached 1,442nd place among the 21,291 universities assessed worldwide, placing it within the top 6.8% of higher education institutions globally. The University also advanced three positions in Latin America and the Caribbean, rising from 61st to 58th place compared with the previous edition, and retained seventh place among the 19 Chilean universities included in the ranking. In addition, UFRO consolidated its position as the third highest-ranked state university in Chile according to this classification.
This progress in the regional ranking reflects the impact of the work carried out by UFRO and its growing recognition within higher education across Latin America and the Caribbean.
About the CWUR Ranking
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) evaluates universities using objective indicators drawn from publicly available sources, without relying on surveys or information submitted by the institutions themselves. Its methodology considers factors related to alumni academic success, employability, faculty quality and research performance, including scientific publications and citations, among other variables.
