Program Information

Comprehensive scientific training that considers knowledge, general skills and clinical skills to diagnose, plan the study of patients and their treatment, solve prevalent pathologies and non-derivable emergencies, as well as to derive the most complex pathologies. A Physician and Surgeon is a professional with solid knowledge of health and illness processes in human beings, valuing their social, biological, cultural and psychological background.

Occupational field

A Physician and Surgeon, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is able to perform in different settings, such as hospitals and ambulatory care facilities, either in health services or private institutions. The training enables the graduate to work with different groups (community, educational, family, etc.), as well as in research centers or universities.

Program Information

A Phonoaudiologist, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with a solid scientific, humanistic, technological, ethical and moral training. His skills allow him to evaluate, diagnose, investigate, intervene and prevent alterations in oral communication of people in any stage of their lifes, in the context of the family, community and also respecting the cultural dimension. He is ethically and socially responsible. Therefore, he demonstrates a critical and reflexive attitude of continuous learning, leadership, the capacity of management and research, and being able to generate new knowledge in the field, in order to contribute to the improvement of health and quality of life with his actions.

Occupational field

A Phonoaudiologist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is qualified to work in:

• public and private health: being part of teams in the specialties of otorhinolaryngology, audiology, neurology, pediatrics, dentistry, craniofacial malformations, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry, etc.;
• education: preventing, evaluating and treating communication disorders in pre-school and school children; integrates teams in diagnostic centers, language schools and school integration projects;
• arts and communications: works with people from the media, singers and actors who want to improve their voice and speech; putting teams of speech and singing together, in schools, theater academies, radio and television;
• the academic area: joining teaching and research teams, in order to develop conceptual, therapeutic and technological lines of innovation.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Program Information

A Physical Therapist is a professional whose actions are based on the study of human movement and its application in health processes. His functions are to examine, treat and educate people and communities, in order to detect, evaluate, prevent and correct neuromotor and cardiorespiratory malfunctions. His therapeutic actions include manual, electric and heat therapies, as well as the use of technologies for therapeutic support and prevention. The Physical Therapist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with clear social and humanistic training, reflective and critical with what he does, prepared to work in multidisciplinary teams, and with skills to develop the promotion, protection, recovery and rehabilitation of health.

Occupational field

A Physical Therapist, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is qualified to work in:

• Primary care: primary care clinics, family health centers (public and private), private health institutions, community organizations;
• secondary care: public health centers, type 3 and 4 community hospitals, private health centers;
• tertiary care: type 1 and 2 hospitals, private clinics, specialized health centers, children's rehabilitation centers, specialized public institutions;
• the education sector: public and private schools, diagnostic and treatment centers, nursery schools, special schools, universities;
• sports and recreation: sports clubs, high performance centers, community organizations;
• the work sector: occupational medicine centers, occupational hazard prevention centers.

NURSING

Program information

Nurses are professionals characterized by their performance in the care of individuals, families and the community throughout the life cycle. They are part of a globalized society and able to work in the fields of health care, administration, education and research. They have skills in the promotion, protection, recovery and rehabilitation of health, in palliative care and leadership in a multidisciplinary team; and their ethical, critical, creative and humanistic attitude allows them to carry out this profession.

Occupational field

A Nurse, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is able to work in public and private clinics, hospitals, and in public and private health agencies. The training also allows the graduate to carry out activities such as community work, occupational health, teaching and research.
