Program Information

A Civil and Environmental Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of management, production processes and projects. His training allows him to conceive, analyze, design and manage productive processes, with focus on clean production, in order to minimize the impacts on the environment, generated by human activity, and in accordance with a sustainable development.

He is trained in basic sciences and engineering sciences; especially in environmental and process sciences, and in those related to the solution of industrial waste treatment and disposal problems, and the optimization of these processes; in leading projects; in environmental impact assessment; and in environmental management. He faces professional challenges with a systemic approach, acting in explicit consideration of the environmental and social implications of the scope of action of a Civil and Environmental Engineer.

He has the capacity to communicate in a globalized world and to put together and lead work teams. He is socially responsible, innovative, committed, critical with the results of his decisions and respects the rules that govern the society in which he operates.

His basic and applied training allows him to work in productive, industrial, manufacturing and service companies in the public and private sector, to work independently as a consultant or adviser, to undertake business initiatives and to continue studies in order to contribute to the economic and social development and of the country.

Occupational field

A Civil and Environmental Engineer, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, will be able to work in any environmental issues related labor market type. The training is primarily oriented to the productive industrial sector, where the graduate will be able to make a significant contribution to the optimization of process efficiency, as well as compliance with the emission and discharge standards, in the implementation and control of environmental management systems, or in work teams that devote themselves to the development of new engineering projects. The graduate can work in engineering consultancy firms, or in input and equipment supply companies; in senior management activities in the public or private sector, in entities oriented to project evaluation and legal advice, in government agencies, health service companies, universities, training institutions, international agencies, etc.
