Program Information

A Civil Mathematical Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the field of modeling.

The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She is trained in basic sciences, especially mathematics and physics, engineering sciences, and computer sciences, and specializes in both discrete and continuous mathematics. This allows the graduate to solve engineering problems, predict the behavior of different phenomena through the scientific analysis of data, and calculate numerical solutions to engineering problems.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.

This allows the graduate to work in public or private technology and service companies or to be self-employed.

Occupational field

A Civil Mathematical Engineer, who graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional prepared to face problems of engineering and sciences of high complexity. The academic training allows the graduate to intervene in the formulation, modeling, and proposition of solution schemes to these problems. Therefore, the occupational field is broad, with options to work in planning centers, financial institutions, technology and science transfer companies, government agencies, science centers, as well as the fields of finance, computer science, structural engineering, bioengineering, etc.

*Students who enrolled in the Civil Engineering Common Plan or any other Civil Engineering Program of UFRO in the admission process 2024 must complete all first-year subjects, without the option of subject recognition or validation, to ensure compliance with the new graduate profiles and updated curricula.
