Program information

The Bachelor Program is an initial basic training program in fundamental disciplinary areas of social sciences. It provides a repertoire of necessary knowledge, in order to train a critical citizen with a cultural framework that allows him to face an increasingly complex world, and vocationally guides the student to continue studies, leading to an undergraduate and / or professional degree.

 

Program Information

An Occupational Therapist who graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera is a health professional with the skills to work in clinical, social, communitarian, employment, and educational contexts, in order to contribute to the occupational performance and participation of individuals, groups, and/or communities.

The basic and specialized training considers the occupational, biological, social, and health sciences as the central axis of this professional field. That allows the graduate to evaluate and diagnose occupational problems in all stages of life; carry out individual, group, and/or community interventions; plan programs and projects related to occupation, with cultural and local relevance, from an ethical and legal perspective.

The graduate is a professional with creativity, and social responsibility, able to work autonomously and/or in a team, and to effectively communicate in a globalized world.

He/She can work in public and private entities of the health system, the educational system, profit and non-profit organizations, local community organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, or self-employed.

Occupational field

An Occupational Therapist has the skills to work in public hospitals and/or private clinics, providing direct clinical care to patients throughout their entire life cycle; public and private health organizations (senior citizens, mental health, home care, observation and diagnostic centers, nursing homes, detention facilities, etc.); the administration of health services and public health care centers; community work (public health care centers, NGOs, community organizations, etc.); occupational health (different business institutions); and the field of education, working in the public, subsidized, and private school system in projects of school integration and special education.

A Pharmaceutical Chemist who graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera is a health professional with knowledge in chemical, biological, and pharmaceutical sciences. The graduate has a clinical training that enables him/her to perform analytical techniques and interpret the results; actively participate as part of health teams, contributing to the population´s health and well-being through timely pharmaceutical care; apply his/her knowledge in the dosage, supply and correct use of medicines, as well as in the processes of design, production, and evaluation of pharmaceutical products; and participating in drug and public health policies.

Program Information

A Medical Technologist is a professional with solid biological and technological knowledge, trained to plan and perform assembly techniques; implement biosecurity and quality control standards; conduct, analyze, and evaluate laboratory or imaging tests, depending on the specialization, the diagnosis, and the health team; and to carry out preventive, promotion, and recovery actions for the health of individuals and the community.

Specialization: Medical laboratory, hematology and blood bank
A Medical Technologist with specialization in Medical Laboratory, Hematology, and Blood Bank can work in state and/or private health institutions (hospitals, clinics, laboratories, insurance companies, urban and rural doctor´s offices); in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries; in research and education; or self-employed.


Specialization: Imaging
A Medical Technologist with specialization in Medical Imaging can work in state and/or private health institutions (hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, urban and rural doctor´s offices); in diagnostic imaging equipment sales companies; in research and education; or self-employed.

Program information

A Midwife is a professional in the field of health. He/She has solid scientific, humanistic, technological, ethical, and moral knowledge, to work as a member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary health teams in the fields of sexual and reproductive health, neonatology, health management, and research.

The disciplinary skills consider diversity, interculturality, and gender, which allows the graduate to promote and protect people’s health; to diagnose and treat the pathologies that affect the sexual and reproductive health of women, their partners, newborns, families, and the community in the different stages of the life cycle.

The training promotes creativity, leadership, effective communication, continuous education, a reflective attitude, and the ability to manage and become part of health teams that allow the graduate to respond with social responsibility to the emerging needs of the community. The graduate is also able to generate new knowledge in the field, using current technological tools to contribute with his/her actions to the improvement of the community´s health and quality of life.

Occupational field

State health institutions, which are part of the network of health services or local health departments, such as hospitals of all levels of complexity, urban doctor´s offices (rural or similar), and private institutions, such as public and private clinics, family and community health centers, etc.

In addition, the graduate can work at workplaces with a high presence of women, and in specific women-related institutions; in education, participating in the promotion of health at the preschool, basic education, secondary, and higher education level; contributing to the training of professionals in the field, at universities and institutes of technical and superior technical training; in research, participating in multi-professional and interdisciplinary teams, for example those, which arise from social needs, requested by the community, adjusting to scientific-technological advances and the different demographic, epidemiological and social profiles.
