Program Information

A Civil Computer Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional in information and communications technology, with the skills to work in the fields of design and implementation of cutting-edge IT solutions, software engineering, and data engineering, to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She is trained in basic sciences, engineering sciences, and computer science, and specialized in IT integration, software engineering, IT project design, data analysis, and IT security. The application of this knowledge allows the professional to solve information management problems, with a focus on people´s needs, through the improvement and automation of organizational processes.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and in high-performing teams, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.

Program Information

A Civil Mechanical Engineer, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of mechanical design, energy, and production processes.

The graduate’s hallmark is engineering design with innovation and social responsibility. He/She has expertise in mathematics, physics, materials science, thermodynamics, solid mechanics, thermal processes, advanced manufacturing, automation, economics, and administration. This knowledge gives the graduate the analytical and methodological skills to design mechanical components and systems, as well as industrial production and energy transformation processes; to formulate engineering projects to develop new products in a viable and convenient way; and to support the areas of management, operations, and maintenance.

The graduate can communicate in a globalized world, work alone and/or in a team, and apply new knowledge through appropriate learning strategies. At the same time, he/she is aware of the ethical responsibilities of the profession.
This allows the graduate to work in industrial manufacturing, mining, energy generation, and service companies in the public or private sector, or self-employed.

Occupational Field

The graduate can work in:

• The mining, steel, forestry, pulp, agro-industrial and fishing industries;
• The energy sector (generation plants, renewable energy systems, fuels);
• The capital goods and consumer goods manufacturing industry (industrial machinery and equipment, textiles, metals and mechanic industry);
• The area of refrigeration and air conditioning, and in the service sector;
• Self-employed activities, as well as providing services in engineering offices (preparation and development of projects or consultancy).

Program Information

An Industrial Civil Engineer with specialization in Bioprocesses, trained at the Universidad de La Frontera, is a professional with the skills to work in the fields of management, production processes and projects, which allow him to integrate resources, create, design, manage, apply continuous improvement, implement solutions to problems and to direct the operation of industrial and service production processes and systems.

He is trained in basic sciences and engineering sciences, as well as in administration, evaluation, management, optimization and the design of projects. He also has knowledge of the basic concepts of biological material transformations, the handling of unit operations and the energy requirements in the bioprocess industry.

He is socially responsible, innovative, committed, critical with the results of his decisions and respects the rules that govern the society in which he operates. He has the capacity to communicate in a globalized world and to put together and lead work teams.

His training allows him to undertake business initiatives, to work in productive and service companies in the public or private sector, to work independently as a consultant or advisor, and to continue studies in order to contribute to the economic and social development and of the country.

Occupational field

An Industrial Civil Engineer with specialization in Bioprocesses, graduated from the Universidad de La Frontera, will be able to work in companies, productive and / or service industries, research centers and universities, among others, joining one of the most dynamic economic sectors of the country.

Program Information

The Civil Engineering Common Plan is a mechanism for admission to the Universidad de La Frontera. After completing this program, the student can enter the Engineering Programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Science, to achieve the corresponding academic degrees. The advantage of this modality is that the student gets the opportunity to get to know different disciplines before making a definitive decision, thus reducing the probability of an eventual vocational crisis and the associated costs.

The graduate of the Common Plan is a person with an extensive general education, and solid knowledge in basic sciences and of the work areas of an engineer, including information and communication technologies.
At the end of the Common Plan program, the graduate has the skills to face university studies in the different engineering programs leading to an academic degree and/or professional degree.

After finishing the Civil Engineering Common Plan at the Universidad de La Frontera, the student can continue studying in any of the Civil Engineering programs of UFRO.
